My Story – traditional meets alternative.
I graduated as a chartered physiotherapist from Queen Margaret College, Edinburgh in 1990, and worked in a variety of clinical settings from hospitals to a GP surgery and from occupational health to private practices. At weekends, I was team physiotherapist to Manchester Storm ice-hockey team, Broughton Park Rugby Club and the British Judo girls cadet squad.
However, my traditional medical model of how to treat pain was turned upside down when I took a course in craniosacral therapy, something which, at the time, I knew very little about. I took this course primarily in an attempt to resolve my own frustrating hip pain which was not only interfering with my golf, but was also not responding to conventional physiotherapy. This course challenged and changed my perception of how to treat pain, and led me to integrate craniosacral therapy into my clinical work. Central to this approach is seeking out and treating the underlying cause of the symptoms. I am excitedly embracing this latest chapter in my therapeutic work, which continues to evolve.
Other Bits and Bobs.
I was born in Stirling, Scotland. I currently live in Northwich, Cheshire with my husband and daughter. When not working I love spin classes, running, saunas, long lunches with family and friends, concerts, cups of tea and playing Candy Crush.
I am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and a member of ACPEM.
